joss paper library

joss paper library (JPL) is a research collective based in Vancouver’s Chinatown, with a focus on self- and independently- published works centering around the Asian diaspora.

In 2019, JPL hosted their first event, By Us For Us: Grounding Art in Community. This panel discussion invited Beatrix Pang and Charlene Sayo to share their work from Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Vancouver, and art as a tool for organizing with migrant worker communities.

In 2021, with administrative support and mentorship from hua foundation, JPL facilitated an online residency, titled: What does it mean to be a racialized settler? Reflections from the artists-in-residence were collected into a zine of the same name, which is currently available for viewing on ISSUU.

joss paper library is part of hua foundation’s incubator program.
